Creality CR-Scan Lizard 3D Scanner With Automatic Denoising Technology

Creality CR-Scan Lizard 3D Scanner Review:

Creality has now introduced their latest 3D scanner. It would be the best product till now. With an ultimate requirement for the customer, Creality 3D now ready to full those requirement. Creality, is the well reputed company in the market for their 3D scanner product. A brand new 3D scanner name CR-Scan Lizard will be available soon.

This entry-level 3D scanner is bundled with the company’s CR-Scan 01, which was recently launched as a cost-effective option for users to scan. The new Lizard is smaller for better portability and feel, but promises improved features like down to 0.05mm accuracy and better handling of bright environments and dark objects. All this for less money than its predecessor, even.

With Lizard, you can easily scan small or large items. CR Studio software works hard to optimize models and even sends these files through the Creality Cloud directly to your 3D printer. The applications seem almost endless. In this article I will discuss about features, spec and price of this product.

Creality CR-Scan Lizard 3D Scan Features:

High accuracy-

With the Creality CR-Scan Lizard, Creality wants to bring professional-level accuracy to the budget market. According to its spec sheet, the scanner is accurate to within 0.05mm, allowing it to capture small parts and intricate details with high precision. Thanks to the scanner’s binoculars and improved precision calibration, Creality says it can capture rich detail from objects as small as 15 x 15 x 15mm, or as large as car doors, engines, rear bumpers, etc.

Scan Modes-

The Creality CR-Scan Lizard comes with three different scanning modes. You can use it in turntable mode, handheld mode, or a combination of both to scan an object.

Creality CR-Scan Lizard1

Turntable mode is suitable for objects from 15 to 300mm and will automatically scan. You can use blend mode for larger objects up to 500mm, where you place the object on the turntable but hold the scanner in your hand to scan. Lastly, its handheld mode is suitable for scanning large objects up to 2 meters in size, such as the car parts mentioned above.

Also, thanks to its visual tracking, Lizard doesn’t need markers to work. You can scan objects without having to stick a bunch of stickers on them first – your software’s tracking algorithm will take care of that for you.

Dark or Light-

In addition to its scanning modes, Lizard also offers some enhanced scanning features that should make it easier for users to achieve good results with minimal effort.

For one thing, Creality claims that the Lizard can accurately scan in sunlight. 3D scanners often struggle with too much direct light, forcing users to scan in a dark room for best results. However, Creality claims that Lizard, thanks to its multispectral optical technology, maintains excellent performance even in bright sunlight, which would greatly improve its field of application. The scanner can also be powered by a portable charger, so in theory you could go out and scan the forest at your leisure.

Furthermore, CR-Scan Lizard promises better material adaptability when scanning black and dark objects. It seems like it has it all.

Color mapping-

Creality CR-Scan Lizard has stated that it plans to release a fully automated color mapping texture set in March 2022 that promises true color fidelity for your scanned objects, but is currently still in development. Once released, you can use the mapping process, where high-definition color images of the model taken with a phone or DSLR camera can be automatically mapped onto the 3D model, allowing you to create high-definition, vivid color scans quality.

CR Studio-

Lizard’s companion software, CR Studio, promises many features that should help achieve clean scans. For example, the software features one-click model optimization and multi-positional auto-alignment, automatic de-noising, simplified topology, texture mapping, and much more.

You can also upload and share models via the Creality Cloud, allowing you to slice your scanned objects and even send them to a 3D printer, all with the click of a button.

Creality CR-Scan Price-

Tentative price during launch may be $300 for the most basic Lizard package and going as high $400 for the deluxe version that’s coming soon with a color kit. The standard price of the Lizard will be $599 for its base version. So you might save some money by getting there early. However, it would not be the first time that the given prices change eventually.
